GRAHAM NEWMAN INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME

Soo Minor Baseball Association is extremely proud to share the news on the Sault Ste. Marie Sports Hall of Fame's newest inductee, VP of Administration, Graham Newman

Graham Newman has been a member of the SMBA Executive since 1990 and was instrumental in the construction development of Sinclair Yards. Graham's legacy continues with the Sinclair Yards Seven Diamond Baseball Complex and Service Buildings construction, development, maintenance, upgrades and yearly operations.

Newman joins President Mike Lebel (inducted 2018) as the only two inductees representing Baseball in Sault Ste. Marie. Plaques of inductees of the SSM Sports Hall of Fame can be found upstairs at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to announce the 2021 inductees into Sault Ste. Marie Sports Hall of Fame: Rudy Timmerman and Graham Newman.

GRANDMASTER RUDY W. TIMMERMAN - MARTIAL ARTS/BUILDER


•  Founded Ancient Fighting Arts (1973), and the Legion Hapkido school (2018)
•  Founded National Korean Martial Arts Association (1973), and KMA Masters Hall of Fame (2014)
•  Creator of Bon Soo and Can-Am Classics Martial Arts Tournaments
•  Inducted in Pioneers and Legend Hall of Fame and Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame
•  Published two books on Korean martial arts, and is currently working on a third


GRAHAM NEWMAN - BASEBALL/BUILDER

•  1990 to 2021 Soo Minor Baseball Outstanding Volunteer and Passionate Leader
•  Developed Sinclair Yards Baseball Complex
•  2002 Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal Recipient
•  1990 to 2021- VP Administration – Soo Minor Baseball Association

Mr. Newman’s legacy is the Sinclair Yards Seven Diamond Baseball Complex and Service Buildings construction, development, maintenance, upgrades and yearly operations.


The Sault Ste. Marie Sports Hall of Fame Committee held a virtual induction ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.
