2021 Player Registration (Soo Minor Baseball Association)

REGISTRATION DETAILS FOR 2021

As Ontario public health guidelines and restrictions are constantly changing, we are awaiting further details before opening registration for the 2021 season. One thing is sure, we will be offering some kind of baseball again this summer!

At this point, the Baseball Ontario - Return to Baseball protocol remains in effect.  More information on this can be found on the Return to Baseball page found in the heading above.


The 2021 registration fees are broken down as follows:

GENERAL INFORMATION

REGISTRATION  

Registration is now open between April 1 and April 30, 2021 on the basis of a season with games within the Baseball Ontario protocols and Ontario Public Health Restrictions.  

Registrations received on or before April 30, 2021 will be guaranteed a team placement. Registrations received after April 30, 2021 will be charged a $15.00 administration fee and placed on a waiting list. Late registrants will not be guaranteed a team.

Due to the current uncertainty of COVID-19 restrictions in the future, you are registering on the basis that there is no payment up front and you will be invoiced at a later date. Full payment of registration fees will be due at that time.  Any players not paid in full by the draft will not be drafted on teams and placed on a waiting list until paid in full. 

Our new online registration accepts 4 methods of payments: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and Visa/Debit.

In-person and cash registrations are not accepted.

The max amount anyone can receive is $150/per child subject to Jumpstart’s other funding maximums and/or local demands.  Applications will be approved on a first come, first served basis. Once you complete the process, you will be notified by email if your application has been approved. Until you receive an email indicating that the funding has been approved, please consider the submission as a request for funding only. It typically takes two months to process an application. The ON number of the application you have submitted online is your reference/confirmation number.  You will need to enter this number in the player registration in order to be considered as a Jumpstart registrant. A 50% deposit will be required from all Jumpstart applicants upon registering to play with SMBA.

GAME NIGHTS
For game nights and league information, please see respective league site under the "League Info" heading above. 


EVALUATIONS
Evaluations night will take place outside at Sinclair Yards.  More information will be posted at a later date. 

Evaluations typically are held for 9U, 11U, 13U and 16U. Failure to attend the evaluation will result in the player being subject to a random team assignment. 

Junior T-Ball to Midget:

You must register your child in the appropriate aged division. If you request that your son/daughter be moved up/down a division, please request it now. SMBA will make every effort to accommodate special requests however, please note that there are no guarantees that all requests can be accommodated.

Open League:
Please identify your team name, team manager, or a group of players you wish to play with.

Tryouts for the respective Black Sox teams began indoors March 6, 2021. Please visit the respective Black Sox pages on our website for more information on tryout dates and times.  All players trying out for the Soo Black Sox must be registered with Soo Minor Baseball Association prior to the first tryout.

Please consider volunteering as a coach or as a league convener. Our association runs strictly on volunteers and is always welcoming the help in all areas. We will approve volunteer hours for high school students. Check our executive page for vacancies.

We need team sponsors! As a sponsor, your business logo will be printed on the jerseys, the team name will be in the standings and schedules, and your logo will appear on the website.

Soo Minor Baseball Association will refund players on a case-by-case basis during the time of covid-19 restrictions.  Refunds given after the draft will be charged a $30 administration fee.
