PrintReturn to Baseball 2020

As Sault Ste. Marie is now in Stage 3 of reopening during the Covid-19 pandemic, here is what you need to know as Soo Minor Baseball Association returns to baseball for the remaining part of summer and fall 2020.

RETURN TO BASEBALL 2020 INFORMATION

Baseball Ontario Approved Protocol

On June 11, 2020, Baseball Ontario approved a Return to Sport Protocol that was reviewed and approved by the Ontario Ministry of Health. SMBA will be adhering to this protocol throughout all in-person baseball activities at Sinclair Yards.  The document can be viewed here:

Baseball Ontario has also prepared a few other documents for your review.  Please review the following documents.

Attendance Tracking

Attendance will be tracked at each scheduled practice or game.  This includes the attendance of all participants, coaches, umpires, spectators and league officials.

Spectators

As per the Baseball Ontario protocol, there is a limit of only one (1) non-participant spectator for every participant.  Because we are taking attendance for all participants and spectators, we expect that all families will adhere to this requirement to simplify attendance tracking.

Social Distancing

Players, spectators, coaches and league officials are expected to socially distance more than 2 metres apart as much as possible.

Sanitizing

Soo Minor Baseball Association will be sanitizing all benches, gate handles, baseballs, washrooms, and any possible equipment being shared after every session.  Players must to bring their own hand sanitizer or disinfecting wipes to use throughout sessions.

Equipment

Equipment will not be shared.  Players must to bring their own bats, helmets, gloves, bags, towels, water bottles and any other personal equipment they choose to use.  When catching equipment is used, the same catcher will remain catcher for the entire session. It is always recommended that players bring their own equipment and not share it.  SMBA will be providing catching equipment and baseballs.

Dugouts

Dugouts will be closed to players throughout the sessions. Players and spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs and set up anywhere outside of the gated field no closer than 2 metres apart.

Masks

Masks are encouraged to be worn by players and volunteers as their discretion.

Consent and Waivers

Please read all waivers and consent forms on our website prior to agreeing and registering. You will be asked to consent to them in during registration.

All participants (players, parents, spectators, coaches, umpires and executive members) present at Sinclair Yards must agree and consent to two separate consent forms.

1)  Covid-19_Declaration

And one or both of:

2)  Child_Participant_-_Parent_Consent
3)  Adult_Participant_Waiver

OnDeck App

Baseball Ontario has created an excellent app for members of the Baseball Ontario community.  Lots of information is available on the app.  You can download the free app on your smartphone or online at https://ondeck.baseballontario.com/.
